Comedian and author David Walliams parted ways with longtime publisher.

The comedian

Prolific writer for children and comedian David Walliams has parted ways with his publisher HarperCollins UK, the company has said.

An official for the publisher said: "Upon deliberation, and with the guidance of its new CEO, HarperCollins UK will not be releasing future works by David Walliams."

Media sources suggest that the move was reached following an review of claims about questionable actions directed at young women.

The firm has not elaborated on the motivations for this action, adding: "We do not comment on confidential company decisions."

An Illustrious Literary Career

Walliams is one of the UK's most prolific writers for young readers, boasting over over six tens of millions of copies globally in 55 languages.

His inaugural foray into kids' literature, *The Boy in the Dress*, came out under HarperCollins in 2008.

Several of his works, including *Gangsta Granny* and *Billionaire Boy*, have found new life as small-screen adaptations.

He has published more than 40 books in total, including a holiday title titled *Santa & Son*, which came out under HarperCollins last autumn.

Television and Literature

His initial claim to fame came on the television comedy show *Little Britain* and has additionally received National Television Awards for his duties as an arbiter on *Britain's Got Talent*.

He received an OBE back in 2017 in recognition of his work for the charitable sector and arts community.

This move occurs subsequent to the selection of Kate Elton as HarperCollins UK's new chief executive in October.
